The Strand at Headlands, Southern California’s final beachfront community, enjoyed a robust first half of 2015 with more than $70 million in sales

Sales included 11 panoramic ocean view homesites and two custom homes. One of the homes, a soft contemporary located on the 2nd row in the North Strand, broke Orange County records for the highest price-per-square-foot home not located on the oceanfront. The family who purchased the Chris Light designed home is from Australia and divide their time between Dana Point and Australia.

Buyers from Minnesota purchased the second home to sell this year at the Strand. The craftsman-styled beach home designed by Bob White, and located in the South Strand, sold for just under $6 million. The family searched the Southern California coast for their dream beach house and finally found it at the Strand.

Nine North Strand homesites and two South Strand homesites also sold. Two of the recent buyers were existing Strand homeowners, who bought a homesite and built, and now are building again, confirming the Strand’s excellent value.

The recent buyers said that they appreciated the Strand’s easy access to the Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis Resorts, Monarch Links Golf Course and its oceanfront private beach club, with its lounge, beachside pool & spa and state-of-the-art fitness center.

The Strand is set on 121 acres with miles of coastal trails and five coastal parks including its 32-acre Conservation Park.

Custom ocean view homesites range from $2.9 million to $14.750 on the oceanfront.

Dataquick is reporting a marked increase in home sale activity throughout Orange County. Sales in all Beach towns were up 37% compared to a year ago.

While prices are remaining fairly flat to slightly increasing, the number of sales has increased substantially. This reportedly will decrease inventory and days on market, and begin to have an affect positively on pricing.
